General / How to compensate miners?
December 28, 2015, 11:30:05 AM
Is it correct that Hivemind will be a sidechain to Bitcoin? In that case, how would miners be compensated for merge mining Hivemind?

Suppose we approach the third Ballot in the life of PM. There's a single Decision in this Ballot as well. Can we reuse Decisions from the past Ballots to make it more robust?

Suppose it's just the dawn of PM trading, and there's only one Decision on the Ballot. Will it break anything?

P.S. Tried to find the answer in the papers, but couldn't (maybe overlooked it)

Yes, sorry, I meant [Any centralized prediction market] instead of InTrade specifically.

That's exactly the question :) How are those tools different? e.g. saw is different from a hammer: saw cuts trees, hammer doesn't. What does Truthcoin do for users better than Predictious?

How much do users care about 3rd party risk?

Sorry, Zack, I thought you were in stealth mode... Couldn't even find your surname :) What's the best way to credit you in the post?

The text could be published on my own blog, but the readership is zilch. Better to publish it as a guest post on CoinDesk / BitcoinMagazine / etc. I can submit it myself. However, if anybody (Paul?) is connected with those publications, the text would have a higher chance of being published. The publication itself will draw attention to PMs, so it's free marketing for PM developers, right?

Which PM can provide smaller fees for users: a centralized or a decentralized one?

I've expanded the post a little, including the links to relevant websites. Are you interested in getting it published?

Oh, I understand now. Betting != Gambling. Still, the question stands.

Why is Truthcoin more appealing than InTrade? + Why is Truthcoin more appealing than Predictious?

In other words, how putting PM on blockchain makes it more appealing to end users?

I was trying to explain prediction markets to my friends, and one of them asked: "If there's a horse race, can I create a prediction market on it?"

Besides, there's "Recreation" section in 3_PM_Applications.pdf.

P.S. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just trying to understand PMs better.

General / Specialized oracle software
November 19, 2015, 03:26:51 PM
Is there any need for specialized oracle software, or will the oracles just input their decisions via native PM interface?

Imagine two Bitcoin networks are started simultaneously. Which one wins?

How about gambling sites? Isn't it easier for users to bet at predetermined odds?

For Truthcoin to succeed, users must be interested in prediction markets in general. What's unique about Truthcoin that will make users more interested in prediction markets than they are now?

Does anything else, besides ongoing investment in developers, prevent the marketing guy from setting up his own prediction marketplace?

Pardon my ignorance, but what prevents a clever marketing guy from copying Truthcoin code and setting up his own prediction marketplace?

If nothing prevents it, does that mean that winning prediction marketplace will be decided by marketing rather than technology?
