Off Topic / Re: I am selling Augur REP

I did the trade and I was happy with the price. It was consistent with all the recent trades on reptrader, and as far as I'm concerned everything above the 2BTC I payed in the presale is just gravy... I've come around to Paul's POV that Ethereum in general, and Augur in particular, is extremely unlikely to gain any real traction.

Zack, thanks for the pointer to reptrader. I'm about to sell 813 REP at 0.0054 BTC. If you want to make a higher bid, let me know ASAP.

On the flip side, I think my counterparty wants to buy even more, at roughly this price. So let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch.

OK, thanks. I'm not interested in selling any at 0.003 but perhaps I'll check back with you later.

Zack, are you still interested in buying REP? I have a decent amount I'm willing to sell -- make me an offer. (I assume you were joking about paying Paul at a price of 0.0001, since I think market rate is a little higher right now (http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/augur/).

Interesting; a tax-focused, decentralized version of Charles Murray's vision in his most recent book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N6PBGM2/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?ie=UTF8&btkr=1), where he calls for something similar (non-profit, crowd-sourced legal defense funds to protect people who wish to engage in civil disobedience against bureaucratic regulatory overreach).

Of course, you must beware that the IRS has the power not only to fine you and make you pay back taxes, but also to throw you in jail. I can imagine that if someone is unlucky enough to get audited, and then grudgingly pays the taxes and fines (covered by your postulated insurance contract), he or she is more likely to be audited next year. The market might adjust by charging such a person a higher premium, but I suspect it would quickly become more cost effective to just pay the taxes.

Paul, wanna drop some knowledge on these guys? http://www.alt-m.org/2015/12/28/theoretical-fedcoin-meet-operational-nubits/

While I'm happy to see interest in bitcoin among Cato's coterie of fans of monetarism and other forms of heterodox monetary policy, I'm less thrilled that they're focusing on the "Fed-coin" proposal and some bull$hit alt called "NuBit", and that commenters on the post are pushing bitshares.

Since you're a credentialed economist, I suspect they might be willing to host a blog post by you replying to this nonsense. (Although I would recommend editing your existing writing on this subject to something a bit more pithy.)

Nice interview. You were pretty vague about the timeline. I have two questions, being ignorant about sidechains. (1) How likely is gmaxwell / Blockstream / whoever to get a working sidechain implementation within 1 year? (2) Assuming that happens, how likely is truthcoin-cpp to be at a "beta"-level release stage within 2 years?
